Dean Volk, PT, MPT

Dean gets people moving, active and feeling young again, even after years of aches and pains.

Dean, graduated with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy from Northern Arizona University in 1992.

Dean has furthered his studies with numerous post-graduate courses focusing on the shoulder, knee, and back, with a strong emphasis in manual therapy. Recently completed courses in Total Motion Release (Levels 1 and 2), has afforded him an excellent way to relieve pain and restore function quickly and effectively. With 20+ years experience in Physical Therapy, Dean has practiced in various orthopedic and sports focused clinical settings, in both the Phoenix, AZ, and the Charlotte regions. During his years of service, Dean has had the privilege of caring for a wide variety of clients: from school-aged children to retirees, from homemakers to business professionals, from weekend warriors to professional athletes.

Dean and his wife, Trudy, have 2 sons, both presently attending the College of Charleston. Dean is an avid sports fan, enjoys spending time with his family and working with his clients to improve their lives.

Meghan Gearhart, PT, DPT

Meghan gets people moving, active and feeling young again, even after years of aches and pains

Although originally from Pennsylvania, Meghan received her B.A. in Dance from the UNC - Charlotte. She went on to earn her M.S. in Rehabilitation with a Sports Medicine concentration from the University of Pittsburgh and her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Emory University. Meghan has completed continuing education in various manual therapy techniques, kinesiotaping, hip/pelvic and foot/ankle dysfunction, and performing arts medicine.

She is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) - Orthopedic Section and Performing Arts Special Interest Group as well as the International Association of Dance Medicine and Science (IADMS). Meghan has presented on topics related to Pilates-based rehabilitation, dance medicine, and the adolescent female athlete at IADMS Conferences in Seattle and Pittsburgh. In addition, Meghan has assisted with backstage coverage of off-Broadway shows and the So You Think You Can Dance Tour. Prior to her undergraduate work, she taught and assisted dance classes and performed in Walt Disney World and on Royal Caribbean cruises. Most recently, Meghan worked as a travel physical therapist with assignments up and down the east coast, but she is excited about her return to the Charlotte area and beginning a new chapter with Volk Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine. Her goal is to create a partnership with clients, working together to achieve each person’s individual goals and empower clients to become active in their own recovery while promoting long-term wellness.

In her spare time, Meghan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, taking dance/Pilates/yoga/barre classes, hiking, cooking, and cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins.

Matt Turner, PT, DPT, CMPT

Matt gets people moving, active and feeling young again, even after years of aches and pains.

Matt graduated with a Doctorate degree of Physical Therapy (DPT) from Lebanon Valley College (LVC) in 2015.

Matt has continued to progress his development as an orthopedic physical therapist since graduating, and became a Certified Manual Physical Therapist in 2017. He ha practiced in various outpatient orthopedic clinical settings in both Pottsville, PA, and Charlotte, NC, and has cared for a variety of clients and help them achieve their goals using a variety of treatment methods.

Matt and his wife, Rachael (also a PT), currently live in Huntersville, having recently moved from Hershey, Pennsylvania. Matt was born and raised in Sheffield, England, but moved to British Columbia, Canada to play hockey and complete his high school education. Matt played NCAA hockey at LVC. In their free time, Matt and Rachael enjoy discovering new areas of North Carolina with their golden retriever, Ralphie and seeing all the state has to offer! We are fortunate to have found Matt and are grateful he has the opportunity to serve our clients.

Lauren Tramel, PTA

Lauren loves to get people moving, active and feeling young again, even after years of aches and pains.

Lauren graduated cum laude from South College-Asheville with an A.A.S. degree in 2016, where she was the valedictorian of her PTA class and was consistently on the Dean’s List. She was licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) October 2016, and is excited to begin her PTA career with Volk Physical Therapy! Her clinical experience was mostly outpatient, though she also worked in skilled nursing facilities and in pediatrics. Lauren gets to know each client individually and likes to tailor each therapy session around activities that are important to them. She loves to learn new skills and concepts and cannot wait to grow as a PTA!

Lauren was born and raised in Asheville, NC, but relocated to the Charlotte area in November of 2016. She has a passion for sports, so in her spare time you will likely find her at a Carolina Panthers game, or cheering on the Tarheels at the Dean Smith Center. She loves spending time with friends and family, adventuring to new places, and discovering the city of Charlotte!

Dawna Coulter-Dorsey

Dawna, our office manager is a self-proclaimed “army brat” and grew up all across the country. She graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts with an associates in Massage Therapy in 2010 while living in Denver, Colorado. She moved to Charlotte that same year where she worked full time as a massage therapist. She later returned to school and in 2016 she graduated magna cum laude from DeVry University with a degree in Business Administration.

Dawna keeps us all in line and on top of things. She loves being a mom to her great daughter, Jayda. In her spare time, you can catch her cheering Jayda on in all of her activities.

Jen Rappisi

The smiling face you see when you enter our Concord office… Our world Traveler who has been to Africa and Germany in the past couple years.

Jen has unique pets, Pizon and Draco, who are desert tortoises that she raised from their hatching 14 years ago!!!!

Kendrae Washburn

Our Head Trainer in our Harrisburg office. Kendrae can often be found at Planet Fitness, hiking a trail or beaching it for a day…

Brooke Scott

Brooke was born and raised in Mint Hill North Carolina. She has two sons Alex and Braxton. Brooke loves the water, and even swam competitively for a few years. Her favorite sports teams are the Panthers, and Tarheels. She loves traveling and seeing different places. During the fall and early spring she enjoys going to Asheville to visit the Biltmore, and LOVES being up in the mountains.
